Super Easy and Fun DIY Projects for Wintertime

If you’re the outdoorsy type, chances are during the cold winter months you’re getting restless sitting inside on the weekends. That is, if you’re not lucky enough to be spending the weekend away at a ski resort. But even if you aren’t related to Martha Stewart, anyone can wile away the snowy days doing fun DIY projects around the house.
Below are a few I want to try. Depending on whether you want to decorate your home or yourself, you’ll have to decide which of these projects sound cool to you. And don’t say you aren’t the crafting type—some of these DIYs will take all of five minutes of your time.
Nail Polish Key Covers. Can’t tell your keys apart? Neither can I, especially at night. Instead of spending money on key covers (which people do, strangely enough) take out a variety of nail polish colors and paint the tops of your keys. I would choose bolder colors, as they might stand out more in the dark.
Nail Polish Shoe Soles. I bet you didn’t know what else you could do with nail polish—paint the bottom of your shoes. It’s not as straightforward as you think: first get a pair of shoes (this looks best on the bottom of high heels) and wipe the soles with rubbing alcohol. Then, you need white nail polish handy to paint a layer of that on the bottom to act as a primer. Let dry, then apply the nail polish color of your choice. Now everyone can think you’re wearing a pair of Christian Louboutins. For full instructions, look at this.
Spraypaint A Boring Piece of Furniture……and without buying spray paint! (Provided you have some acrylic paint and an empty spray bottle handy). Tired of looking at that white rocking chair on the porch? Dig up some acrylic paint of your color choice and mix two parts with one part water into a spray bottle, instead of buying one of those pricey aerosol cans. Voila—a bright red rocking chair!
Glue Corks into a Picture Frame instead of buying a bulletin board at Staples. Simply get a picture frame and take out the glass and cardboard. (The only catch for this DIY is that you’ll have to have saved a bunch of wine corks). Fill the frame with corks until it reaches capacity—if all goes well, they will fit tightly without any extra room. If the fit isn’t snug, you might have to get a hot glue gun otherwise the corks will fall out of place once you hang up the frame. Lastly, gather a bunch of tacks and hang up your photos!
Make A Fun Tea Light Holder. This can be done in a number of different ways, especially if you have empty glass jars on hand. My favorite is taking cooking ramekins, if you have them, and filling them with fresh coffee beans—preferably a French Roast or other comparable delicious smelling dark roast. Wedge the tea light so it is somewhat immersed in the beans, and light. The close proximity of the warm flame to the coffee beans will carry the incredible smell throughout your house.
Hope you enjoyed these. If you decide to try any leave a note in the comments and let us know how it went.

Nail polish was originated in China, dating back to 3000 BC. Around 600 BC during the Zhou Dynasty, the royal house had a preference for the colors gold and silver.”*;*
