If you\u2019re the outdoorsy type, chances are during the cold winter months you\u2019re getting restless sitting inside on the weekends.\u00a0 That is, if you\u2019re not lucky enough to be spending the weekend away at a ski resort.\u00a0 But even if you aren\u2019t related to Martha Stewart, anyone can wile away the snowy days doing fun DIY projects around the house.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Below are a few I want to try.\u00a0 Depending on whether you want to decorate your home or yourself, you\u2019ll have to decide which of these projects sound cool to you.\u00a0 And don\u2019t say you aren\u2019t the crafting type\u2014some of these DIYs will take all of five minutes of your time.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Nail Polish Key Covers<\/a><\/em>.\u00a0 Can\u2019t tell your keys apart?\u00a0 Neither can I, especially at night.\u00a0 Instead of spending money on key covers (which people do, strangely enough) take out a variety of nail polish colors and paint the tops of your keys.\u00a0 I would choose bolder colors, as they might stand out more in the dark.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Nail Polish Shoe Soles<\/a><\/em>.\u00a0 I bet you didn\u2019t know what else you could do with nail polish\u2014paint the bottom of your shoes.\u00a0 It\u2019s not as straightforward as you think: first get a pair of shoes (this looks best on the bottom of high heels) and wipe the soles with rubbing alcohol.\u00a0 Then, you need white nail polish handy to paint a layer of that on the bottom to act as a primer.\u00a0 Let dry, then apply the nail polish color of your choice.\u00a0 Now everyone can think you\u2019re wearing a pair of Christian Louboutins.\u00a0 For full instructions, look at this<\/a>.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Spraypaint A Boring Piece of Furniture<\/a><\/em>\u2026\u2026and without buying spray paint!\u00a0 (Provided you have some acrylic paint and an empty spray bottle handy).\u00a0 Tired of looking at that white rocking chair on the porch?\u00a0 Dig up some acrylic paint of your color choice and mix two parts with one part water into a spray bottle, instead of buying one of those pricey aerosol cans.\u00a0 Voila\u2014a bright red rocking chair!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Glue Corks into a Picture Frame<\/a><\/em> instead of buying a bulletin board at Staples.\u00a0 Simply get a picture frame and take out the glass and cardboard.\u00a0 (The only catch for this DIY is that you\u2019ll have to have saved a bunch of wine corks).\u00a0 Fill the frame with corks until it reaches capacity\u2014if all goes well, they will fit tightly without any extra room.\u00a0 If the fit isn\u2019t snug, you might have to get a hot glue gun otherwise the corks will fall out of place once you hang up the frame.\u00a0 Lastly, gather a bunch of tacks and hang up your photos!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Make A Fun Tea Light Holder<\/a><\/em>.\u00a0 This can be done in a number of different ways, especially if you have empty glass jars on hand.\u00a0 My favorite is taking cooking ramekins, if you have them, and filling them with fresh coffee beans\u2014preferably a French Roast or other comparable delicious smelling dark roast.\u00a0 Wedge the tea light so it is somewhat immersed in the beans, and light.\u00a0 The close proximity of the warm flame to the coffee beans will carry the incredible smell throughout your house.<\/p>\n
