{"id":1828,"date":"2014-09-04T16:54:03","date_gmt":"2014-09-04T16:54:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mikemalonedds.com\/blog1\/?p=1828"},"modified":"2015-08-26T21:18:18","modified_gmt":"2015-08-26T21:18:18","slug":"even-tooth-fairy-budget","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.camelliadds.com\/blog1\/even-tooth-fairy-budget\/","title":{"rendered":"Even the Tooth Fairy is On a Budget"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p>When the economy is struggling, it affects everyone &#8212; even the tooth fairy apparently.\u00a0 Yes people, even the tooth fairy is on a budget.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the US this year, children have received an average of $3.40 per tooth, down from 8% from last year when kids were getting an average of $3.70 per tooth.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This information was found from a survey that was taken by Visa and reported in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/money\/personalfinance\/2014\/08\/20\/tooth-fairy-inflation\/14279885\/\">USA Today<\/a>.\u00a0 However even though the price of a tooth has dropped in 2014, it has remained pretty stable in recent years despite the state of the economy:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Price of A Tooth (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-2730824\/Tooth-fairy-keeps-purse-strings-bit-tighter-national-tooth-prices-drop.html\">DailyMail<\/a>):<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>2010: $3<\/p>\n<p>2011: $2.60<\/p>\n<p>2012: $3<\/p>\n<p>2013: $3.70<\/p>\n<p>2014: $3.30<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Between 2011 and 2012, the price the tooth fairy was willing to pay for a tooth jumped 14%.\u00a0 It happened again between 2012 and 2013 when the price of a tooth increased by 23%.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/money\/personalfinance\/2014\/08\/20\/tooth-fairy-inflation\/14279885\/\">USA Today<\/a>, \u201cMarket specialists say that the amount of money the fairy leaves is a sign of our economic state of mind and consumer confidence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In 2013, when tooth inflation was at its peak, it wasn\u2019t unusual for the tooth fairy to leave a child a $20 bill under their pillow.\u00a0 But this year, the tooth fairy is only leaving kids $20 at a rate of 4% &#8212; down 2% from last year.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly enough, the Visa survey found that dads are less careful about how much money they leave their children from the \u2018tooth fairy\u2019 while moms are more deliberate.\u00a0 \u201cOn average, fathers say the fairy left about $4.20.\u00a0 For moms, that price was about 45 lower, or about $2.90,\u201d according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-2730824\/Tooth-fairy-keeps-purse-strings-bit-tighter-national-tooth-prices-drop.html\">Daily Mail<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Experts say it is a good thing parents are leaving their children less money from the tooth fairy.\u00a0 It\u2019s excessive, and there\u2019s no value in that.\u00a0 If anything, leaving your children less money teaches them the \u2018value of a dollar\u2019 lesson even more.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.camelliadds.com\/blog1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/about_doc_0211-e12864129926861.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-935\" src=\"https:\/\/www.camelliadds.com\/blog1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/about_doc_0211-e12864129926861-146x150.jpg\" alt=\"about_doc_\" width=\"146\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Dr. Mike Malone\u00a0and his\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.camelliadds.com\/about_us.html\" target=\"_blank\">team<\/a>\u00a0practice expert cosmetic dentistry in Lafayette, LA.
