{"id":1154,"date":"2013-06-03T20:23:59","date_gmt":"2013-06-03T20:23:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mikemalonedds.com\/blog1\/?p=1154"},"modified":"2013-11-05T22:43:37","modified_gmt":"2013-11-05T22:43:37","slug":"gang-bosss-denture-moldings-go-to-auction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.camelliadds.com\/blog1\/gang-bosss-denture-moldings-go-to-auction\/","title":{"rendered":"Gang Boss&#8217;s Denture Moldings Go To Auction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you\u2019re famous enough, even the imprint of your teeth are worth money.\u00a0 \u00a0 Ronnie Kray, notorious gang boss of London\u2019s East End during the 1960s\u00a0 is auctioning off a mould of his teeth.\u00a0 Or rather, his nurse is &#8212; Ronnie passed away in 1995 from a heart attack while at Broadmoor psychiatric hospital in Berkshire, England.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The denture mould was taken while Ronnie was at Broadmoor, and it isn\u2019t the only item being auctioned off by the nurse whom Ronnie gifted his possessions to.\u00a0 The collection of 22 bizarre belongings \u201cincludes a service sheet from his funeral and cards from his parents Violet and Charles while incarcerated\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-2332164\/Ronnie-Krays-denture-mouldings-Broadmoor-Hospital-latest-line-bizarre-items-belonging-notorious-twins-sale.html\">according to MailOnline<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>An auctions spokesman says he expects the items, which are being sold by the nurse\u2019s family, to sell for between \u00a32,000 and \u00a33,000.\u00a0 Among the items are Christmas cards exchanged between Ronnie and his twin brother Reggie who was his partner in crime &#8212; literally &#8212; during the 1960s in the East End of London where they together ran the criminal underworld.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The brothers were both jailed for a minimum of 30 years for armed robberies, arson, and the murders of two men.\u00a0 Ronnie was certified insane and sent to Broadmoor, while Reggie was imprisoned at Wayland.\u00a0 Reggie was diagnosed with terminal cancer and released out of compassion in 2000, only to die just eight weeks later.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You might ask, who would buy items belonging to men who did such terrible things?\u00a0 The same reason why Americans would buy anything belonging to Al Capone, Lucky Luciano, or John Dillinger.\u00a0 The Kray\u2019s were famous in their own right; they owned nightclubs in the West End and mingled with actors and musicians like Frank Sinatra and Judy Garland.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When Reggie passed in 2000, hundreds of mourners showed their respects.\u00a0 Murderers or not, these guys were still well-liked throughout East London &#8212; and well-liked enough that someone will spend money to display Ronnie Kray\u2019s denture moulds.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Did you know?\u00a0 Some other dental products of famous people previously auctioned off\u00a0 include John Lennon\u2019s tooth which sold for \u00a319,500 and Winston Churchill\u2019s gold dentures which sold for \u00a317,500.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.camelliadds.com\/blog1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/about_doc.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-888\" title=\"about_doc\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.camelliadds.com\/blog1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/about_doc.jpg\" width=\"146\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.camelliadds.com\/about_mikemalone.html\" target=\"_blank\">Dr. Mike Malone<\/a>\u00a0and his\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.camelliadds.com\/about_us.html\" target=\"_blank\">team<\/a>\u00a0practice expert cosmetic dentistry in Lafayette, LA.
